The grandfather of rap

Post by Terpentin on Thu Aug 27, 2015 5:20 am

Forget Grandmaster Flash or the Sugerhill Gang.
This gentleman had the flow nailed down 100 years ago:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Reutter
Particularly notable about Reutter was his ability to deliver original, amusing lyrics in a singsong manner, his persona full of irony and wit. After a successful appearance in the "Wintergarten Variety" of the Berlin Central Hotel, Reutter was hailed as a celebrity, and was considered in the following decades as one of the leading artists of the stage in Germany.

I think you're being a little generous calling it rap, Terps.

4 in the morning

-lights in my face

That's the time, you know the place
Cuffed in the room with the two-way glass
Detects in effect cold doggin' my ass
"What's your date of birth?" "What's your real name?"
I stuck to my alias, I know the game
If they don't know who you are, then they don't know what you've done
"You're just makin' this harder on yourself, son"
I know this shit by heart, I'm too clever
"Have you ever been arrested before?"

Nope, never

D.A. reject all over his face
You see, no confession, no case
Then my boy started illin', talkin' and tellin'

It's just gibberish. I can't understand a word he's saying.

Maybe  it is rap.

Personally, I always thought rap had a silent C.

The song is about his new coat (> bling) and his fears of it being stolen (> thug life).

Shocked

That's another American "thing"

You have Crips and Bloods.

Crips can't use the letter "B" so the substitute the letter C in its place.

Example "Rap Cattle" would be under stood to be "rap battle"

And Bloods can't use the letter "c"

Example "hot boffee" -means "hot coffee"

It's ridiculous and retarted, worse then Ebonics

I didn't know that; that is ridiculous and retarded. But, then again, the whole concept of the Bloods and the Crips is ridiculous and retarded.

You're right and I was being facetious as I hope you gathered.

No, what we should do is give them a false sense of entitlement and continue the suppression via "gettin my checks" slavery and encouraging them financially to breed like rabbits and get bigger checks and increase and complicate the problem. That should work at least as well as it has thus far don't you think?

I would love to hear a solution. A factual doable solution. Not a cryptic reference to yet another rabbit hole. That always leaves the onus on me. Clever but unhelpful.
